John Faust: Lead Vocals

Born in Amherst, Ohio, and raised in LaGrange, John had the opportunity for musical experiences later in life. As a self-taught vocalist and guitarist, John spent much of his time learning guitar chords off of the internet and touring the karaoke circuit. John always had a passion for music but did not become a musician until his early 20’s.

Much of his youth was spent playing sports both backyard and competitively. It was not until John moved to Holland, Michigan that he decided to pickup an old guitar his friend (Chris Allen, BFC percussion) gave him as a gift and pursue his love for music. With nothing better to do in a new town, new apartment, and with a new job John played several hours every night mastering sing-a-long tunes. After several years of playing solo at backyard BBQ’s and bonfire parties John met up with Jeff Armstrong, lead guitar and vocal for MLC, and formed the band Agave Blue. Jeff took John under his wing and helped him fine tune his talents. Later John was introduced to the rest of the members of the MLC band and would sit in on a show from time to time. John and the MLC boys still have a strong relationship and routinely meet up at the Blissfest Music Festival in Crossvillage, MI.

Through a job change, John made his way back to Ohio and now resides in Chippewa Lake. Formations of BFC started when the lead guitarist for Rocket Propelled Goldfish (Chris Jackson) answered a musician add at the Medina Music Center for a “dude looking to Jam and drink cold beer” and John became RPG’s new found rhythm player. After the lead singer took off for the motor city and the drummer flew a kite, or a model helicopter, they were never quite sure, the band parted. The three members left standing added a bongo player, pulled the plug, and became Blue Fish Crisis. John enjoys the freedom that comes with playing acoustic and will never go back to electrified chaos. (That could be a good name for a band??) He feels at home now…in his acoustic bliss.

Note: The name Blue Fish Crisis was derived from John’s band experiences (i.e. Agave Blue, Rocket Propelled Goldfish, and Midlife Crisis).
